Bulk Food Buying ProgramThe Lakeland Resource Centre, Corey's Independent Grocer, and the McAdam & Harvey Health Centres have teamed up to bring a Bulk Food Buying Program to the community. The bulk food buying program will enable participants to purchase a grocery bag full of fresh produce each month, at a discounted price. Produce is be supplied by Corey's Independent Grocer in McAdam.
How the Program Works: Interested participants must first register to become a member of the McAdam Bulk Food Buying Program, and pay a $10 yearly membership fee (used to cover the cost of supplies to operate the program). Members then have the option to purchase a bag of produce each month for a fee of $15 (a significant cost savings). There is no pressure to buy each month, and no screening process to be eligible to participate - everyone is welcome! Each bag will contain healthy food choices including a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Orders will include seasonal options and locally grown alternatives as much as possible. Members will be required to place their order for one of these produce bags by the 1st Tuesday of each month, and bags will be available for pick-up on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the McAdam or Harvey Health Centre from 1 - 7pm. If buying a produce bag is not for you, but you are interested in helping a family in need, you can still become a member and sponsor a local family each month! Donation receipts are available.
